The World Health Organization (WHO) invites students and recent graduates worldwide to apply for its 2026 Internship Programme at the Western Pacific Regional Office in Manila, Philippines. This three-month opportunity offers hands-on experience in global health while working alongside international experts.

What the Programme Offers

Selected interns receive a living allowance to support their stay in Manila. The amount varies based on the intern’s permanent residence: interns residing in Manila receive an estimated daily rate, while those from outside Manila receive a higher daily allowance. Additionally, interns receive a daily lunch stipend and full medical and accident insurance coverage.

Available Internship Positions

  • Internship – Healthy Ageing / Division of Data, Strategy and Innovation: This position focuses on caregiving for older people in the Western Pacific Region. Interns conduct literature reviews, compile data on national policies, compare caregiving models across countries, and contribute to drafting an analytical brief. The deadline is September 9, 2026.
  • Internship – Research, Ethics and Innovation: This role supports Member States in strengthening health research governance and responsible AI innovation. Interns conduct literature reviews on research ethics, analyze challenges facing national ethics mechanisms, and assist with technical meeting coordination. The deadline is September 3, 2026.
  • Internship – Communicable Diseases: This division-wide opportunity places interns across technical units working on communicable disease prevention and control. Responsibilities include conducting research, developing technical materials, and supporting knowledge dissemination. The deadline is August 27, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 20 years old
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate (3rd year or above), graduate, or postgraduate programme, or have graduated within the last six months
  • Hold a valid passport from a WHO Member State
  • Demonstrate fluency in English
  • Not have previously participated in the WHO Internship Programme
