We are currently seeking an experienced engineering craftsperson (electrical) to join our multidisciplinary estates team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in engineering to be part of our dynamic team. This role requires an applicant who has completed a recognized electrical apprenticeship and possesses a strong understanding of mechanical building services. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have extensive experience in building service installations.

The post holder, as a member of the maintenance team, will be responsible for providing engineering maintenance services for the trust’s owned buildings in the Teesside locale.

The role will be located at Lanchester Road Hospital, specifically at Lanchester Road in Durham, with the postal code DH1 5RD. Depending on the service, it may be necessary to operate from different Trust sites for an extended period.

Duties of Maintenance Electrician Jobs in the UK

  • To assist the Trust Engineers in providing a cost-effective and efficient engineering maintenance and repair service to all properties owned or leased by Tees, Esk, and Wear Valleys NHS FT for healthcare purposes.
  • To execute scheduled and failure maintenance and installation on all electrical services, plants, and equipment at the Trust’s owned or leased assets.
  • To meet the necessary service needs, the postholder must execute skilled, semi-skilled, and other duties that are outside their principal competencies.
  • To assist other contractors and professionals with their service requirements.
  • Ensure that all tools, equipment, and machinery used in the performance of responsibilities are regularly tested and maintained following the most recent requirements.
  • To ensure that the environment is always safe for patients, staff, contractors, and visitors to the trust, all work must be done in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in the Trust’s off-hours on-call service.
  • To exhibit a commitment to and active participation in quality improvement activities.
  • To continuously promote a favourable image of people with cognitive challenges and/or mental health concerns.
  • To maintain a positive image of the Estates Department and the larger trust.

About Us:

The position requires coordination with other engineering team members and, when necessary, the building team, all while working within a limited engineering team. Providing coverage in the team’s area of responsibility, which includes Durham and Darlington, as well as other estate teams when needed.

Responsibilities for Maintenance Electrician Jobs in the UK

  • Perform routine maintenance and testing on sophisticated building services installations and equipment.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of electrical engineering systems and fixtures located above and below ground.
  • Finalize service and inspection reports as needed.
  • To improve the training and development of engineering apprentices and semi-skilled personnel.
  • To the greatest extent reasonably practicable and under the Trust’s policies, ensure the health, safety, and welfare of staff, trainees, patients, visitors, members of the public, and contractors when on Trust premises.
  • While off-site, manage one’s workload and conduct maintenance duties independently.
  • The post holder will be expected to conduct directly connected, semi-skilled responsibilities as part of a multidisciplinary team to guarantee that the Facilities
  • The department can meet the demands of the Trust’s commitment and changes in working methods.
  • Furthermore, the post holder may be required to assist with work outside their core competencies as operational circumstances demand or as reasonably requested by the line manager. This will be done after finishing the necessary training.
  • During off-hours, an “on-call” rota is in effect, and the postholder is required to engage in the rota system as needed to provide continuity of service to the Trust’s premises.
