Visa For Giving Birth in Canada | Key Information and Guidelines

Pregnant women are also able to enter Canada on a temporary residence visa purely for the purpose of giving birth. Even if visa officers take pregnancy into account, it does not justify denying someone’s application. Women who are pregnant are not barred from entering Canada because of this visa.

The goal of this page is to provide information about the temporary residence visa for women planning to give birth in Canada, as well as other relevant subjects.

What does the visa for giving birth in Canada entail?

To give birth in Canada, women do not need to get a Temporary Resident Visa. Except for when the mother may give birth in Canada, the processes or what is permitted are the same for everybody.

It is a short-term visa that usually lasts six months. It allows women to visit friends and family or travel to Canada while obtaining medical help during childbirth. The woman does not have access to the same social and medical benefits as Canadian citizens. It also bans the lady from becoming a citizen, permanently residing in Canada, or acquiring Canadian documents.

A woman may only incur hospital charges related to her hospitalization. If the mother is a Canadian resident or citizen, the kid will be granted Canadian citizenship and become eligible for a passport.

What are the visa requirements for non-residents giving birth in Canada?

Women must achieve specific requirements before they may apply for a visa that allows them to give birth in Canada. These requirements are the same as for a visiting visa.

As a result, pregnant women have no special visa requirements when applying to the Canadian Consulate. Except in circumstances of medical crises, pregnant women are not barred from applying for Canadian visas. As a result, the following conditions must be met:

  • Certain qualifying restrictions must be met by all Temporary Resident Visas.
  • If you give birth in a hospital, make sure you can finance your hospital stay.
  • Be prepared to undergo a medical examination if the Canadian Consulate requests it. Unless you are pregnant or at high risk, this visa is usually not required.
