Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is looking for a sustainability and net-zero officer. This position offers the opportunity to influence sustainability efforts across the region.

About UK Sustainability and Net Zero Officer

As the Sustainability and Net Zero Officer, you will be responsible for embedding sustainability and climate resilience into the asset management function of the Combined Authority. You will translate strategic goals into action programmes that achieve measurable results. This role is key to the authority’s climate emergency commitments, setting out clear pathways and standards across the asset lifecycle.

UK Sustainability and Net Zero Officer Jobs Duties

Your duties will include:

Firstly, you will be responsible for the integration of sustainability initiatives within Asset Management.
Secondly, you will translate climate strategies into tangible, measurable programmes.
Thirdly, you will identify and manage environmental and climate risks to assets.
You will also ensure that all assets meet local, regional, and national sustainability targets.
You will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to align sustainability initiatives.
Finally, you will track and report on the progress of sustainability initiatives and climate targets.

Requirements for UK Sustainability and Net Zero Officer Jobs

You will have the following to qualify for this position:

Experience: Extensive experience in delivering sustainability or climate projects in the built environment or public sector.
Funding Knowledge: Awareness of funding opportunities such as the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
Local Authority: Experience and knowledge of working with local or combined authorities.
Qualifications: A relevant degree or professional accreditation (e.g. IEMA, CEnv, engineering) preferred.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and experience of frameworks such as PAS 2080, BREEAM and MEES.
