The Canadian Government Announces New PR Program 2024

With the launch of new pilot programs, Canada has made great progress in helping Canadian families and carers. To assist individuals in need and lay the groundwork for a program for permanent caregivers, these projects highlight Canada’s dedication to improving support networks for the underprivileged.

International caregivers are incredibly valuable to families in Canada. They care for children, the elderly, and those with disabilities, and their efforts have a positive impact on their lives. The Honorable Mark Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), today announced new improved caregiver pilots as the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot draw to an end later this month.

As we seek to make the caregiver pilot programs permanent, this will enable caregivers to travel to Canada. Upon arrival in Canada, home care professionals will be assigned permanent residents under the new trial programs. Additionally, they will be permitted to work for companies that offer short-term or part-time care for those who are recovering from an illness or injury or who are only partially independent.

With the help of this new route, caregivers will find it easier to obtain suitable employment with reputable companies and obtain permanent resident status as soon as they get to Canada.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who match the following requirements and are interested in working in Canada’s home care industry may apply through these new pilot programs.

  • Reach at least level four, following the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
  • Possess the equivalent of a high school diploma from Canada
  • Possess current, pertinent work experience
  • Get an offer to work as a full-time home care provider.

A big step forward has been made in Canada’s attempts to fulfill the changing requirements of its varied population for home care with the introduction of these new PR-on-arrival pilot programs. Before the pilots fully launch, further information will be provided, including complete eligibility requirements and application instructions.

An inventory of more than 60,000 people was kept for the Live-in Caregiver program in June 2014. Less than 1% of the live-in caregiver program inventory is still in place today. In line with the immigration levels plan for 2024–2026, Canada will accept more than 15,000 caregivers as permanent immigrants.

Since the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot were introduced in 2019, around 5,700 caregivers and their families have become permanent residents as of April 30, 2024.

By implementing these pilot programs, Canada hopes to improve the support it offers to families and caregivers nationwide and lay the groundwork for a future caregiver program that is more extensive and long-lasting. As these programs develop, they should have a significant influence on the lives of those who commit themselves to helping others, demonstrating Canada’s commitment to developing a society that is helpful and caring.
