POSITION: Country Director
Spark MicroGrants envisions a world where every person lives with dignity and shapes their own positive future. We pioneer a community-driven development model, the Facilitated Collective Action Process (FCAP), across sub Saharan Africa. As we expand our programs in Ghana through local partnerships, we seek a strategic and seasoned Country Director to lead this pivotal work. This role demands a leader with deep appreciation for systems change and impact first programming, focusing on government engagement, partnership development, and organizational compliance.
Your Mission and Our Work
You will lead Spark’s presence in Ghana, championing our unique model that combines facilitated community meetings with a microgrant to catalyze local action. Our international functional teams support country operations, where you will co design the FCAP with local partners and government bodies. You are a professional excited to join a period of swift expansion, ensuring sector leading quality as we scale and integrate technology into program delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- You will provide comprehensive strategic leadership, partnership management, and team oversight.
- Manage all relationships with government counterparts at national and district levels to integrate the FCAP into government systems.
- Assume overall responsibility for program quality, timeline adherence, and rigorous budget management.
- Collaborate with internal departments like Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, Finance, and Fundraising to leverage organizational strengths for success in Ghana.
- Establish and sustain critical relationships with donors, partners, and industry stakeholders to advance Spark’s influence and resource base.
- Oversee audit management and ensure full compliance with the laws of Ghana.
- Actively support fundraising, partnership development, and contribute to internal and external communications.
- Guide financial management, grant management, and reporting for the Ghana portfolio.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- You are a leader with a proven track record in influencing policy and managing complex programs.
- Possess a minimum of twelve years of relevant experience in partnership management, people leadership, and program implementation.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of successful government engagement and policy influencing.
- Have strong experience leading organizations and a solid understanding of MEL, finance, operations, and grant management.
- Hold a Master’s Degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Economics, Management, or a related field.
- Exhibit an excellent track record in designing and managing rural development programs.
- Show strong project management skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent written and oral English communication.
