The Seoul National University (SNU) President Fellowship (SPF) will be available again for the Spring 2026 semester. This fellowship offers teaching and instructional staff from developing countries the chance to pursue fully funded Ph.D. programs at SNU, South Korea’s top university.

It’s aimed at academic professionals working in universities in developing nations who want to enhance their skills and contribute to their fields through doctoral research.

Fellows will receive a high-quality education, access to advanced resources, and opportunities to work with leading scholars. About the SNU President Fellowship (SPF)

The SPF stands out as one of the most competitive and generous scholarships offered at Seoul National University. It is specifically tailored for those employed as teaching or instructional personnel (like lecturers, research professors, teaching assistants, etc.) in prominent universities within developing nations who do not possess a Ph.D. University-branded products.

This program is specifically designed for individuals with a master’s degree or higher who are dedicated to returning to their home institution to keep teaching after obtaining their Ph.D.!

Eligibility Requirements

To be taken into account, you need to:

  • Serve as an instructional or teaching staff member at a reputable university in a developing nation.
  • Does not possess a Ph.D. degree yet.
  • Hold a minimum of a Master’s degree.
  • I have been accepted into a Ph.D. program at SNU for the Spring 2026 semester.
  • Provide verification of your job and a letter from your university affirming your ongoing employment following graduation.

Fellowship Benefits

Chosen SPF Fellows will obtain an outstanding funding offer that includes:

  • Complete tuition paid for six semesters
  • Monthly allowance ranging from KRW 1,500,000 to KRW 2,000,000 (approximately. $1,100 to $1,450) for a duration of 3 to 4 years.
  • Round-trip flight ticket (economy class)
  • National Health Coverage
  • Assistance with childcare (if relevant)
  • Complimentary evening classes for the Korean language.

Required Documents for SNU Fellowship Application

Candidates are required to prepare:

  • Filled out the SPF Application Form
  • Employment Verification Letter with particular institutional and job information.
  • Transcripts and graduation diplomas (Bachelor’s and Master’s)
  • A recommendation letter from your University’s President or Dean.
  • Merchandise branded with the university’s logo

The official certificate should verify your position, starting date, and the university’s backing for your return after completing your Ph.D.

  • September 1 – September 4, 2025: Initial document assessment by the SPF team.
  • November 28, 2025: Revealing the final results for SNU admissions.
  • Beginning of January 2026 (TBA): Information on interviews by the SPF Selection Committee. University-branded products.
  • Mid-January 2026: Interviews for chosen candidates.
  • Late January 2026: Revealing of the Spring 2026 SPF Fellows final list.
