POSITION: Security Manager
Rainforest Builder is Africa’s top forest restoration firm, aiming to revive one million hectares of degraded land into natural tropical forest. Our team unites leading global scientists and foresters into a single, cohesive organization focused on extensive tropical forest restoration. We have strong collaborations with several of the globe’s biggest corporations to assist them in achieving their decarbonization objectives.
Currently, our efforts are directed towards revitalizing Africa’s most severely damaged rainforest area, the Upper Guinean Forest, where we have two current projects and an expanding pipeline of high-quality initiatives for additional growth. Every project is extensive (over 100,000 hectares) and enduring (beyond 71 years), with further actions implemented to guarantee sustainability long after our departure. We manage every phase of each project’s lifecycle directly, encompassing origination, carbon asset creation, forestry activities, monitoring, and analysis. By collaborating closely with communities, our team of 2,000 ensures that our partners have full confidence in the quality and transparency of our operations.
Your Role
We are looking for a committed, full-time Security Manager who has experience in overseeing forestry or plantation security, fire safety operations, and emergency readiness. The Security Manager will be crucial in assisting the Head of the Silviculture Department by safeguarding all our leased and planted regions from unauthorized farming, logging, and mining (Galamsey). This role demands a strong level of dedication, truthfulness, integrity, and effort, along with a focus on project objectives.
Your Duties
- Security Guards Hiring: Hire competent security personnel
- Security Guards Training: Prepare new guards to be both physically and mentally vigilant for security duties.
- Security Guard Assignment: Create a plan for around-the-clock security coverage of all areas.
- Patrols, Oversight, and Examination: Guarantee that all checkpoints, positions, and key areas are observed around the clock.
- Removal and Reporting of Encroachments: All encroachments need to be eliminated and reported.
- Involve Communities in Encroachment Prevention: Inform all communities regarding the advantages of the projects and the detrimental impacts of encroachments.
- Conflict Resolution: Maintain harmony in our societies by resolving disputes.
- Stakeholder Management: Build friendly connections with all pertinent law enforcement organizations.
- Data Gathering, Reporting, and Analysis: Assemble pertinent data for daily, weekly, and monthly security reports alongside decision-making.
- Emergency Response Training: Organize and oversee the organization’s readiness training for emergencies.
Requirements
- Applicable higher education credential
- Expertise in overseeing plantation security and fire prevention activities.
- Expertise in leading a team with enhanced leadership abilities.
- Capability to efficiently oversee security personnel to accomplish tasks.
- Capability to formulate plans and implement them appropriately.
- Complete integrity, truthfulness, and dependability
- Pleasant to reside and work in extremely isolated regions.
- Skilled in producing weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational reports.
- Proficient in onboarding and training
- Retains complete confidentiality and prudence.
- Effective communicator in writing and speech across all levels.
- A motorcycle and vehicle driver’s license are necessary.
- Proficient computer abilities
