Poland’s New Language Rules for EU Residence Permits Take Effect Tomorrow

Poland is going to make changes to its language rules that will affect people from outside the EU who want to get an EU Long-Term Residence Permit. When these rules go into effect on June 24, 2023, applicants will have to prove that they know Polish at the B1 level.

The goal of this move is to make sure that immigrants have a basic understanding of the country’s official language. This will make it easier for them to integrate into Polish culture and communicate with others.

Expansion of Acceptable Language Certifications

Under the new rules, foreigners can now show certificates from certain private exams as well as certificates from Polish colleges that show they passed internal language exams.

These papers will show that the applicants know at least B1-level Polish.

Before, the only proof that was accepted was passing a public test in Polish or finishing a Polish school or university.
