You will bridge technical and business teams, driving service reliability, incident response, and continuous improvement in a regulated banking context. This position demands deep cloud expertise, operational maturity, and a proven ability to manage large-scale, mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing CloudOps team, fostering a culture of automation and service excellence.
  • Define and execute the Cloud Operations roadmap in alignment with enterprise cloud strategy and business goals.
  • Participate in IT governance forums to represent operational interests and influence architectural standards.

Service Reliability and Incident Management:

  • Own service level objectives (SLOs) and error budgets for critical cloud workloads.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, observability, and alerting using advanced tools.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage disaster recovery strategies and ensure compliance with recovery time and point objectives.

Cost Optimization and Governance:

  • Partner with FinOps and architecture teams to track cloud expenditure, identify savings opportunities, and enforce cost governance.
  • Support chargeback models and promote rightsizing, reserved instances, and automated scaling.

Security, Compliance, and Automation:

  • Enforce security best practices across IAM, encryption, patching, and secrets management
  • Ensure audit readiness and align operations with ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and internal compliance frameworks.
  • Drive automation initiatives using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and GitOps to enhance platform stability and reduce manual intervention.

Your Profile and Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Professional cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP) are required.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or Practitioner certification is essential.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of ten years in IT infrastructure, with at least five years in cloud operations leadership within an enterprise environment.
  • Proven expertise in managing multi-cloud and hybrid deployments, container orchestration, and serverless architectures.
  • Strong background in building observability platforms and implementing SRE/DevOps practices.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with the ability to perform under pressure in a 24/7 environment.

If you are a cloud operations leader ready to ensure the resilience and innovation of Africa’s leading banking infrastructure, we encourage you to apply. Join Ecobank and play a strategic role in shaping the future of secure, scalable digital banking across the continent.
