Job Description
Plan International is looking for a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for a USAID-funded project in Ghana called “Advancing Protection and Care for Children in Adversity. ” The DCOP will provide guidance on child protection and care, assisting the Chief of Party (COP) in planning and implementing the project.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, management experience, and excellent communication skills to handle various management needs of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring the project maintains quality and integrity
- Supporting the COP with project planning and execution
- Integrating elements like gender equality and early childhood development—including support for children with disabilities—and strengthening families and social systems.
- The DCOP will also oversee child protection strategies and represent the project in meetings with donors and government officials to ensure goals align with USAID.
Minimum Requirements
- A Master’s degree in social work, sociology, law, public administration, or a similar field.
- At least seven years of experience in managing social services or child protection programs.
- A minimum of five years of experience in related areas like social work, child protection, gender equity, early childhood development, working with disabled children, family support, or system improvement.
- Experience with parenting programs or improving government systems is a plus.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to work well with various partners, including government and international agencies.
- A record of building teams and fostering teamwork to achieve goals and high-quality results.
- Knowledge of USAID procedures related to project design, monitoring and evaluation, and financial management.
- Proficiency in at least one local language spoken in Ghana.
