POSITION: Excavator Operator

We are currently seeking skilled and safety-focused Excavator Operators to join our dynamic team at our Ahafo or Akyem operations. Your Role and Impact

As an Excavator Operator at Newmont, you will operate heavy machinery to excavate and load materials with precision, directly supporting our production targets while upholding the highest safety and efficiency standards. Your role is critical to the seamless flow of our open-pit mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Attend pre-shift meetings and execute tasks in strict accordance with supervisor instructions and mine plans.
Perform thorough pre-start equipment inspections and log results using the designated JIGSAW system.
Assess work areas for hazards and ensure all safety clearances are obtained before commencing operations.
Operate excavators following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Task Procedures (STPs).
Monitor and manage truck payloads to optimize loading efficiency and minimize waste.
Maintain accurate floor and bench grades to meet engineering specifications.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, geologists, and truck operators via two-way radio to coordinate workflow and report issues.
Conduct post-shift inspections and provide detailed handover information to the incoming operator.
Adhere rigorously to all health, safety, and environmental policies and legislation.

Your Profile and Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

Senior High School Certificate.
Valid Mineral Commission Operator’s License and a Driver’s License (Class E).
Two to three years of proven experience operating excavators in an open-pit mining environment.
Strong understanding of excavator controls, instrumentation, and maintenance principles.
Excellent hand-eye coordination, concentration, and situational awareness.
Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability and initiative.
