POSITION: Finance Manager 

Jhpiego is recruiting a Finance Manager for the SUPREME LIFELINES project in Ghana, funded by Unitaid. This critical initiative aims to improve access to lifesaving care for pre-eclampsia and maternal anemia through innovative service delivery and implementation research. We seek a suitably qualified individual to ensure robust financial management and compliance for this transformative health project.

Position Summary

Based in Accra, the Finance Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance and Administration department under the leadership of the Senior Finance Director. This role supervises the Finance Officer and is essential for maintaining fiscal integrity and supporting project goals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your role encompasses comprehensive financial oversight and strategic support.

  • Ensure accurate financial, contractual, and administrative reporting compliant with Jhpiego and Unitaid regulations.
  • Oversee daily financial coordination, promoting cost consciousness and efficient spending.
  • Manage all project cash needs, payments, procurement, contracts, and logistical operations.
  • Provide financial guidance to the Program Manager and support the project team with procurement and sub-grantee oversight.
  • Direct Unitaid resources appropriately according to program work plans and priorities.
  • Review and reconcile all project accounts, including petty cash, and address internal audit queries promptly.
  • Contribute to developing project work plans and annual budgets, making necessary in-country budget adjustments.
  • Maintain the project financial accounting system, preparing monthly reports using QuickBooks software.
  • Implement detailed financial reporting processes and determine monthly project accruals to support accurate forecasting.
  • Manage the entire sub-award process, ensuring grantee compliance, building financial capacity, and maintaining expenditure trackers.
  • Mentor and supervise the Finance Officer, serving as a resource on donor and organizational financial policies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Chartered Accountancy qualification (ICAG/ACCA) is a strong advantage.
  • Have 8+ years of experience (or 10+ years with a BA) in financial analysis, reporting, and budget development, preferably on international health projects.
  • Demonstrate 7+ years of financial planning experience within Ghana’s international health sector.
  • Possess at least 5 years of mid-level experience working with donor-funded programs and previous staff supervisory experience.
  • Exhibit familiarity with Unitaid procedures, sub-award financial management, and financial software like QuickBooks Enterprise.
  • Show excellent problem-solving, communication, and team management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Certification in project management (PM@Jhpiego or PMD Pro) is required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to travel nationally as required.
