When studying abroad, most international students rely on working part time to support themselves. As a foreign student you will be wondering if you are permitted to work with your student visa. The answer to this is yes because both US and Canadian students visa allows for students to work for 20 hours per week.
LIST OF PART-TIME JOBS AVAILABLE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
There are some part time jobs that are very flexible and allows you to work around your schedule. Here is a list of jobs you can explore if you seeking for a part-time job.
- Server or Bartender (CAD$11.00/hour + tips)
This is the most common job for students due to the flexibility of the schedule. The downside of it is that, you will have to work the night shift and mostly on weekends. The wage per hour is not that great but working at a busy place will earn you a tip of about $200 which is great.
- Sales assistant
If you are able to win people over easily, a job in sales is a great way to earn some income and have the flexibility you want. As a sales person you will be expected to maintain contact with the customers. Monitor the purchases and sending it out on time. As a sales person you have control over what you earn, this is because some companies pay based on commission which means the more you sell, the more you earn.
- Uber driver
Being a uber driver is most popular amongst college students. The age requirements is for you to be 21, have a dependable car and a smartphone. You need to know the rush hours in your area, so you can earn more.
- Freelancer
Those who have a skill in writing, Web designing ,graphic design and others. If you are a good writer, you can use that skill to earn. It will also add a great deal to your resume if you intend to make writing a career.

- Nanny
If you enjoy spending time with children and have experience taking care of them, this is for you. Most parents need help with raising their children, whether it is picking them from school, preparing their meals, helping them with their homework or entertaining them. This job gives you enough time to attend to your school work while the children rest.
- Translator
If you are proficient in another language or two, you can get the job of a translator. You are expected to be able to speak, read and write in the language fluently. This is because you will be the mediator that will facilitate written communication amongst individuals and working on documents as well. You can decide to work in an organisation or be independent.
- Dog walker
Working as a dog walker is not much of work because it doesn’t take much of your time. You are normally required to walk the dogs for 30 to 60 minutes. Dog walkers normally walk the clients dog, feed them and are sometimes responsible for sending them to the vet when the need arises.
