POSITION: Health Specialist

Summary of Responsibilities: 

The Health Specialist (SHARE Project) operates as the strategic technical leader in Ghana for Right To Play’s health initiatives, concentrating on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), Psychosocial Support (PSS), and education on wellbeing. The role offers strategic guidance for the SHARE Project and aids in blending health priorities throughout Right To Play’s initiatives.

KEY DUTIES:

Strategic Planning, Program Development and Execution (30%) 

  • Conduct health and wellbeing context analyses and incorporate findings into the Country Strategy.
  • Guide the technical design of health-oriented programs and proposals.
  • Offer technical assistance to modify and implement SRHR education in schools and communities.
  • Advance education and enhancement in health initiatives via data and teamwork.

Oversight, Assessment, Learning, and Documentation (20%) 

  • Offer technical assistance regarding SHR-related metrics and data gathering.
  • Assist in program education, modification, and documentation.
  • Work alongside MERL teams to enhance the quality of execution.
  • Create technical reports and knowledge outputs.

Enhancement of Capacity and Technical Assistance (20%) 

  • Evaluate and enhance the capabilities of employees, collaborators, and stakeholders in health initiatives.
  • Create and provide training and support resources focused on SRHR, wellness, and youth advocacy.

Networking, Collaborations, and Advocacy (25%) 

  • Participate in national and regional task forces focused on SRHR.
  • Establish collaborations with government entities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders in sexual and reproductive health and rights.
  • Advocate for child and adolescent health by representing Right To Play in national forums.
  • Facilitate joint advocacy initiatives and resource gathering.

Required Skills or Expertise

  • Knowledge (Academic Background, Work Experience)
  • Master’s degree in public health, population studies, medicine, or an equivalent area.
  • Preferred qualifications include formal training in SRHR and public health.
  • At least five years of experience in implementing SRHR and PSS programs.
  • Extensive experience in youth/adolescent health, strategic planning, and engaging stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with governmental frameworks, projects funded by donors (e.g. Global Affairs Canada, UNFPA)
  • Familiarity with health information systems, education, and skills development.
