POSITION: Laboratory Officer
Responsibilities and Duties
- Offer technical support for the execution of programs related to the laboratory.
- Support the execution, observation, and evaluation of activity designs.
- Create project monitoring, tracking matrices, and necessary reports as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the technical lead and program team to guarantee effective program execution and oversee expenditures at the state level.
- Perform training and technical evaluations of health laboratories alongside implementing partners.
- Contribute to the creation of novel program strategies connected to associated services.
- Collaborate with the Jhpiego Laboratory Coordinator to execute training, sustain services, and offer supportive oversight.
- Engage in assessing project data alongside M&E and program personnel to inform adjustments for achieving outcomes.
- Assist teams and partners in outbreak inquiries and training for frontline laboratory personnel, along with other recognized assessment and project-related research efforts.
- Carry out additional tasks as required or as directed.
Required Skills or Experience
- Credentials, Expertise, Background, Competencies, and Proficiencies
- Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) or comparable experience in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Having post-graduate training in Public Health will be beneficial.
- Proven experience collaborating with USAID programs and in-depth knowledge of USG reporting mandates.
- 3 years of experience in management, operational, and technical skills with a focus on public health program execution.
- Background in public health and Medical Laboratory Science.
- Experience collaborating with the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, and international organizations.
- Knowledge of Ghana’s health systems and reporting framework, along with a proven capacity to work with government officials to enhance program execution.
- Proven expertise in engaging and cooperating with various local and global partner organizations.
- Outstanding abilities in facilitation, team development, and coordination.
- Outstanding writing and communication abilities, featuring proven technical writing skills for publication.
- Capability to collaborate successfully with varied global teams and eagerness to educate and uplift others.
- Capacity to operate in a complicated setting with numerous responsibilities, tight timelines, and significant pressure to achieve results.
- Capability and readiness to travel often to implementation areas and healthcare facilities.
- Acquaintance and expertise using Zoom and various online platforms.
- Outstanding proficiency in writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication in English.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office, Epi-Info, DHIS2, and various reporting systems.
