About the Position

At Orica, we are dedicated to enabling people to develop, lead, and create a significant difference. As a Senior Site Supervisor – Open Cut located in Ahafo North, you’ll play a crucial role in promoting operational excellence, safety, and team leadership.

In this position, you will supervise on-site Orica teams and related equipment in accordance with the service level agreement, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements. Guarantees the execution of Orica’s SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, and Security) standards and promotes complete adherence to the CHECKPOINT system and Quality initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Offers analytical and decision-making support to the Sprint Lead regarding the ongoing improvement strategy aimed at reducing operational expenses.
  • Engages in the site’s planning activities for the short, medium, and long term. Adheres to established cost budgets on an annual basis.
  • Carries out required monthly inventory counts and reconciliations, safety meetings, annual Letter of Assurance, and ensures all tasks assigned to the Site are finished in the necessary databases.
  • Evaluates and examines site operations to confirm that regulatory standards are fulfilled and conducted safely in line with company policies.
  • Guarantees that all employees finish and record mandatory training.
  • Oversee training programs for employees. Records all training efforts, encourage, inspire, and oversee employees to reach their highest potential while delivering customer service safely.
  • Guarantees that effective housekeeping, documentation, and maintenance prevention programs are established.
  • Aids in the development of fixed cost budgets, capital investments, staffing needs, equipment specifications, and an updated Resource Model.
  • Evaluates site inventories to reduce product amounts and enhance site profitability via stock rotation and management.
  • Organizes daily tasks of staff to fulfill customer needs and guarantee effective management of the site, including ordering raw materials and conducting preventative maintenance.
  • Conveys and formulates/executes an action plan to tackle any operational concerns with the Sprint Lead.
  • Successfully conveys and oversees all external regulatory agency audits/inspections and implements necessary action plans as needed.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A minimum of 8 to 12 years of experience after obtaining the professional qualification, which includes 5 years of direct experience in managing personnel.
  • Demonstrated capability to guide a team, fostering a cooperative method in establishing the strategy and functioning of the workstream.
  • Demonstrated influencer, capable of overseeing processes among various stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in executing process enhancement initiatives would be beneficial.
  • Exhibited abilities related to fostering robust partnerships with vendors and/or customers.
  • Financial expertise and budgeting skills.
  • Strong comprehension of the Mining Safety Management System Element by consistently emphasizing Safety Value.
