POSITION: Principal 

St. Francis College of Education invites applications from qualified and distinguished professionals for the esteemed position of Principal. Located in Hohoe, Volta Region, the institution seeks a visionary leader to provide strategic direction and uphold its legacy of academic excellence. The Principal will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the college.

Key Responsibilities of the Principal

The successful candidate will assume comprehensive leadership duties to advance the college’s mission.

  • Provide strategic leadership and clear direction for the college’s academic and operational future.
  • Oversee all academic, administrative, and financial operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Contribute actively to the development and implementation of high-quality teaching and learning programs.
  • Foster and maintain strong, productive relationships with key stakeholders, including faculty, students, and the wider community.
  • Exhibit exemplary leadership, organizational skills, and a high sense of integrity beyond reproach.
  • Attract external grants and funding to support research, innovation, and institutional development.
  • Uphold and enhance the college’s reputation as a center of excellence in teacher education.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet stringent academic and professional criteria to be considered.

  • Be a distinguished scholar and master teacher with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Hold a rank not below Associate Professor in a College of Education, University, or an analogous institution.
  • Possess at least ten years of progressive experience in teaching and/or research, including five years in a senior management or leadership role.
  • Demonstrate proven leadership skills, the ability to be a team player, and the capacity to motivate and direct staff confidently.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis management skills, with the ability to exercise sound, impartial judgment.
  • Show proven ability to lead teams and manage institutional resources effectively.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of Ghana’s educational landscape and a clear alignment with national educational goals.
  • Must not be more than 55 years of age at the time of application.

Terms of Appointment

The appointment will be for an initial four-year term, renewable for another term only. Salaries and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar leadership positions within Ghana’s tertiary education sector.
