Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Research Associate to join our team working on digital safety and kid internet protection. The candidate will help with key research projects, such as assessing data on children’s online behaviours, digital threats, and safety precautions. This position demands a combination of technical knowledge, research abilities, and a thorough awareness of the specific issues that children face in the digital age.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine survey instruments for the research area: Collaborate with the Principal Investigators to run pilot surveys on online safety and digital parenting. Provide input on field operations and improve survey instruments to better gather data on thematic assignments.
- Lead Field Research Activities: Plan and carry out field research activities, including training field workers, organizing team logistics, and supervising data collecting on issues such as digital parenting, children’s online hazards, and effective child online protection techniques.
- Adhere to Data Quality Procedures in Research: Implement data quality procedures, administer data quality audits, and conduct high-frequency checks to ensure the reliability and correctness of data collected on digital safety and child online protection.
- Analyze data to inform digital parenting methods: Use quantitative and qualitative data from surveys, interviews, and focus groups to detect trends and hazards in digital safety and child online protection, as well as to create effective digital parenting techniques.
- Collaborate on reports and policy recommendations. Collaborate with team members to create thorough reports and policy recommendations based on research findings in areas such as digital parenting, kid online protection, and digital safety.
- Engage with key stakeholders to gain comprehensive insights. Engage with educators, parents, and children to obtain varied perspectives on digital safety and dangers, and then use these ideas to influence research and design focused interventions.
- Stay up to date on developments in digital technology and child psychology. Keep up to date on the newest innovations in digital technology, online safety trends, and child psychology to ensure that your research is current and applicable.
- Systematic Storage of Research Data and Outputs: Ensure that all research data and outputs linked to digital parenting and kid internet protection are kept confidential and organized, in accordance with ethical standards and data protection rules.
Qualifications:
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology, statistics, sociology, information technology, or a related subject.
- Proven research experience in societal projects.
- Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
- Excellent communication abilities, both vocal and written.
- Proficient with research software and digital tools.
- Understanding child development and the psychological effects of digital technology is highly desirable.
- At least two years of work experience are required.
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Preferred skills:
- Understanding of data privacy and ethical implications in research with children.
- Experience with literature reviews and methodical research.
- Familiarity with internet safety regulations and child protection legislation.
