Job Summary

We currently seek an experienced Senior Exploration Geologist to join our exploration team at our Obotan Site. This position places you at the forefront of our exploration efforts, where you will supervise moderately complex geological activities related to Greenfields and Brownfields Exploration. You will play an active hands on field based role, applying your expertise to evaluate and develop potential resources on the Mine. Your leadership will directly influence our ability to discover new deposits and optimise existing resources.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field crew to achieve exploration programs and performance targets, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
  • Participate in the development and updating of 3D geological models, liaising with the Resource Geologist to provide input into resource models.
  • Supervise the implementation of early stage resource growth and brownfields exploration strategies, driving continuous discovery.
  • Assess and interpret all available data sets, actively participating in ranking exploration targets and opportunities.
  • Implement exploration programs including mapping, drill rig management, core logging, management of field logistics, collection of geological data, and evaluation of results.
  • Ensure geology staff are properly trained in all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain these standards through field job observations.
  • Ensure optimal drilling schedule is maintained and delivered to achieve set targets within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant national laws and regulations including environmental, health and safety standards, and labour laws.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience Required

To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic qualifications, professional experience, and personal attributes. Specifically, we require:

  • Educational Qualification: Minimum of a Degree in Geosciences or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of post qualification work experience, preferably in gold mineralization in greenstone belts, with demonstrable leadership competencies.
  • Geological Knowledge: Sound understanding of geological principles and legislative requirements.
  • Computer Literacy: Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Field Readiness: Willingness and ability to perform field work in an extreme mining environment.
  • Driving Skills: Valid Ghanaian Driver’s license with a minimum of five years driving experience and ability to drive in rough terrains.
  • Leadership: Self confidence and strong supervisory competencies to build an effective and motivated team.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret geological data to support decision making.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Results Orientation: Results driven work ethic with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Training Ability: Capacity to train and mentor team members and demonstrate safety leadership.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Conflict Management: Sound conflict management skills for handling challenging situations.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong planning, organising, and prioritising skills.
