POSITION: Sales Manager

To begin with, this role places you at the center of strategic decision making. You will work closely with the Managing Director while driving revenue growth and strengthening customer relationships. About the Role
The Sales Manager will oversee national sales and marketing operations while guiding a team toward achieving ambitious targets. In addition, you will focus on building strong partnerships and identifying new business opportunities within the shipping and logistics industry.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will take ownership of several critical functions that support business success:
- Develop and implement a national commercial strategy that aligns with global business goals
- Drive revenue growth through creative sales initiatives and market expansion efforts
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to guide strategic decisions
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including cargo owners, freight forwarders, and logistics partners
- Lead pricing strategies and negotiate contracts that deliver long term value
- Manage strategic client accounts while conducting high level sales meetings and business reviews
- Identify customer needs and translate insights into tailored solutions and account plans
- Guide and mentor the sales team while setting clear performance targets
- Monitor sales activities through structured visit plans and performance tracking
- Promote a customer focused culture that prioritizes service excellence
Furthermore, you will introduce digital tools that improve efficiency and customer engagement. Your ability to combine leadership with innovation will shape overall success.
Operational and Strategic Functions
Beyond sales leadership, you will also handle important operational responsibilities:
- Implement CRM systems and digital platforms to strengthen pipeline management
- Encourage the use of online booking and self service tools among clients
- Use reporting dashboards and analytics to support informed decision making
- Prepare accurate forecasts and budgets while monitoring performance regularly
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage commercial risks
- Collaborate with internal teams across operations, finance, and customer service to deliver seamless service
Skills and Experience Required
To succeed in this role, candidates must bring a strong mix of experience and capability. Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, logistics, or a related field
- MBA or professional qualification will provide an added advantage
- Between five and ten years of experience in shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding
- At least five years experience in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of container trade, liner shipping, and global trade practices
- Proven success in contract negotiation, pricing, and account management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and CRM systems
