POSITION: Dispensary Technician 

The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), a leading non-governmental organization and member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), is seeking a dedicated Dispensary Technician. Since 1967, PPAG has been a pivotal advocate and provider of comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services in Ghana. We invite result-oriented professionals to apply for this role at our Family Health Clinic in Accra.

Job Role and Purpose

You will provide efficient and effective pharmaceutical services to clients while maintaining accurate data on all services rendered. This position reports directly to the clinic head.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will ensure the smooth operation of our clinic dispensary and uphold the highest standards of client care.

  • Dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions from Physician Assistants or Doctors.
  • Generate necessary stock lists and labels using the clinic’s computer system.
  • Enter all relevant client data into the electronic records system meticulously.
  • Follow all established procedures and standards, such as the First Expired, First Out (FEFO) method, for drug dispensing and storage.
  • Assist in the proper filing of client cards after service delivery.
  • Maintain and utilize the correct processes for ordering and receiving drug supplies, adhering to reorder levels.
  • Receive and hand out prescriptions to clients directly as required.
  • Prepare daily activity reports for the supervisor’s review and action.
  • Develop an annual work plan and participate in performance appraisal processes.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the immediate facility head.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must hold an HND or Diploma in Pharmacy Technician or Dispensary Technician from an accredited institution. Alternatively, an equivalent qualification in a related field with strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel is acceptable.
  • Possess a minimum of three years of relevant working experience, with prior experience in a similar dispensary or clinical role.
  • Be fluent in both written and spoken English, as well as the local language spoken in the Accra community.
  • Have a good working knowledge of computer applications for data entry and reporting.
  • Exhibit very good interpersonal, communication, and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrate honesty, transparency, reliability, and a high sense of responsibility and accuracy.
  • Be a proactive team player able to work long hours under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Must reside in Accra or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
