Job Description

Madamfo Ghana Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and self-driven Construction Manager to lead major community-based building projects. This role is a unique opportunity to apply your professional expertise in remote areas of Ghana, creating a lasting positive impact.

You will oversee all phases of construction for vital community projects. Your leadership will ensure we deliver high-quality, safe, and sustainable infrastructure that meets the needs of local residents.

Key Responsibilities and Impact

As our Construction Manager, you will handle a diverse range of critical duties:

  • End-to-End Project Management: You will oversee all construction phases, ensuring strict adherence to project plans, established timelines, and quality standards.
  • Quality Assurance and Certification: Your expertise will be essential for assessing and certifying each construction stage, guaranteeing full compliance and safety.
  • Comprehensive Reporting: You will prepare detailed progress reports, maintain precise documentation, and manage material records for both management and donor review.
  • Team Leadership and Safety: Coordinating all on-site personnel will be your responsibility. You will foster efficient workflows while enforcing strong health and safety protocols.
  • Financial and Procurement Management: Managing project costs is a key duty. This includes preparing accurate estimates and securing fair pricing for all materials and services.
  • Community Collaboration: Building strong relationships is vital. You will work closely with local leaders and residents to ensure inclusive and successful project implementation.
  • Payroll Oversight: You will also manage labour payments, ensuring transparency and timeliness.

Your Qualifications and Experience

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience managing medium to large-scale construction projects, including stage certification.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of AutoCAD is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • A demonstrated history of leading and managing diverse teams effectively.
  • The adaptability to work successfully in remote, resource-limited environments.
  • High personal integrity, a strong sense of accountability, and proven resilience under pressure.
