POSITION: Senior Environmental Researcher
Job Description
The Institute of Green Growth Solutions (IGGS) is seeking a skilled and exceptionally experienced person for the role of Senior Environmental Researcher.
Job Overview
The Senior Environmental Researcher will oversee the programs related to environmental assessment and stakeholder engagement activities to meet its commitments and assist in addressing climate change challenges as instructed by the Chief Executive Officer.
He/She will execute, manage, and assist in the execution of these particular tasks:
- Guides strategic collaborations and resource allocation in the fields of climate change, energy, and adaptation.
- Oversee the planning and development of work, activities, communication, and progress reporting regarding the environmental and social impacts of initiatives at the Institute of Green Growth Solutions.
- Assist in evaluating environmental and social impacts and offer recommendations for the environmental and social integrity of project transactions and IGGS non-transaction activities, where relevant.
- Gather Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) data during the feasibility and development phase of chosen transactions.
- Provide training and capacity development initiatives for ESIA transaction assistance.
- Collaborate with IGGS outcome leaders to pinpoint deficiencies in the environmental management skills of stakeholders and partners.
- Assist in offering guidance on environmental and social sustainability to partners, private investors, and developers.
- Assist with the activities of the Climate Change and Risk Management project.
- Formation of strategic alliances and execution of resource mobilization strategies associated with climate change and environmental programs/projects.
Required Qualification or Experience
- Hold a Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, climate change, sustainability, energy, or similar fields and must be a member of a professional organization.
- At least 5 years of experience in climate change, conducting Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) tasks, which includes Environmental Audit.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and the ability to comprehend and analyze environmental assessment reports.
- Examine and compile report sections regarding the baseline conditions of the ESIA, incorporating qualitative and quantitative assessments as necessary.
- Robust organizational and communication abilities.
- Excellent skill in writing, communicating, and creating engagement materials effectively in English.
