Position Overview

We seek a qualified and experienced Superintendent for Electrical Projects to join our Engineering and Projects Department. This role reports directly to the Manager of Engineering and Projects. The successful candidate will provide essential Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering support for mine-wide growth and improvement projects. You will also deliver technical support for electrical requirements across all project phases including scope review, design assessment, site supervision, and contractor management.

The incumbent will ensure successful project delivery by managing electrical infrastructure projects throughout the mine. You will also oversee scope and design reviews while supervising onsite activities. Additionally, you will coordinate contractor performance to maintain quality and safety standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership: Adhere strictly to Namdini Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Furthermore, assist the EAIT manager in developing procedures that achieve safety and environmental targets. Model exemplary compliance with these standards.
  • Policy Development: Create policies, forms, rules, and Standard Operating Procedures aligned with Mining Regulations, Energy Commission standards, and international best practices for energy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Statutory Compliance: Manage all legal and statutory requirements for electrical equipment installations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections and tests.
  • Commissioning Management: Oversee electrical equipment commissioning processes and ensure smooth transition to operations.
  • Design Review: Examine all electrical engineering design plans, perform thorough analysis and calculations, and supervise implementation of approved solutions and improvements.
  • Scope and Budget Development: Prepare comprehensive Scope of Work documents and develop Bill of Quantities for all electrical projects. Consequently, you will manage service contractors to ensure optimal value.
  • Procurement Support: Assist in procuring electrical equipment, critical spares, tools, and running spares in accordance with company policy and requirements.
  • Maintenance Planning: Collaborate with the Maintenance Planning department to develop and implement effective equipment maintenance strategies and schedules.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training needs analysis for Engineers and Technicians through performance appraisals. Identify skill gaps and prepare internal training requirements while supporting external training implementation.
  • Mentorship: Train, mentor, and coach engineers and technicians to help them reach higher professional levels.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other related tasks as assigned by your supervisor based on company exigencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Recognized Degree or Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • Mincom Competency Certificate, minimum Sectional Engineer level.
  • Energy Commission Certificate for industrial or inspector roles.
  • Membership with the Ghana Institution of Engineers or the Engineering Council body.
  • PMP Certificate with membership in the Project Management Institute.

Minimum Experience

  • Ten years of working experience in gold mineral processing operations.
  • At least five years in a Senior Electrical, Instrumentation, or Management role within large-scale mines.
  • Five to ten years of project management experience.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively while maintaining professionalism.
  • An analytical mindset with advanced knowledge of medium voltage and low voltage installations.
  • Thorough understanding of commissioning and decommissioning processes.
  • Familiarity with project design concepts, procedures, and tools.
  • Strong decision-making ability under pressure with excellent people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Proficiency in medium voltage substation operations, maintenance, and MCC controls.
  • Strong knowledge of variable speed drives, dual drives, motors, and control gears.
  • Solid understanding of field instrumentation and control systems with appreciable PLC and SCADA experience.
  • Lastly, competent with CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
