Facts about DV Lottery Results

  • First and foremost, the Department of State won’t email or mail selection notices to recipients. The Department of State only notifies candidates for selection by Entrant Status Check via the E-DV website.
  • Also, selected applicants must submit their online DS-260 application as soon as possible to reserve a time for an interview at the relevant U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
  • Additionally, you are potentially qualified to change your status to gain permanent residence via the DV Program if you live or work in the US. You get information via the E-DV website indicating that you got chosen for additional scrutiny in the DV Program.
  • Besides that, the major Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) candidate must have completed high school or its equivalent, or have two years of relevant work experience as specified by U.S. law.
  • Aside from that, regulations set forth by the Department of State mandate that all participants present a current passport number. However, stateless people, citizens of communist countries who cannot obtain passports from their government, and recipients of personal waivers authorized by the state and homeland security secretaries are among those who qualify for these three exemptions.

What Next After the Selection

  • You can expect instructions on how to submit the necessary supporting documents after KCC has received and processed the DS-260 application for you and potential accompanying family members. However, you won’t be able to book an interview unless you send in scanned copies of all necessary supporting papers by the instructions.
  • Next, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center informing you of your scheduled interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate after the successful evaluation of your completed DS-260. You will receive instructions through email on how to view the day, time, and place of your interview.
  • In addition, each candidate must pay the Diversity Visa fee before the interview. The cost for DV-2022 candidates is $330 per individual. Whether or not you receive a visa, this cost is non-refundable.
  • Make sure you have followed the instructions for interview preparation provided by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate before your interview. It’s crucial to keep in mind that being chosen does not ensure you will get a visa. Selectees still need to satisfy U.S. law to receive a DV to gain entry to the country.
  • The consular officer at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate will let you know if your visa application was granted or denied after the interview process.
