The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to become an integral part of our finance department. This role is perfect for an individual with a foundational understanding of accounting principles who is eager to develop their skills in a practical, hands-on environment. You will provide crucial support in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of daily accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

As an Accounts Assistant, you will handle a variety of essential bookkeeping and clerical tasks. Your primary duties will include:

First, you will analyze financial documents and records to identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
You will assist in preparing year-end financial reports to help evaluate the company’s annual performance.
A core responsibility involves regularly updating all accounting ledgers and journals to maintain current and accurate records.
Furthermore, you will perform monthly bank reconciliations for client accounts to verify the accuracy of all cash transaction records.
You will also enter client transaction data diligently into our designated accounting software.
Additionally, you will record all petty cash transactions accurately in the petty cash journal.
You will help monitor office expenditures to ensure they remain within the approved budgetary limits.
Finally, you will perform regular backups of all critical office and client financial data to prevent any potential loss.

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong aptitude for numbers and organization:

A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
Proven prior experience in an accounts assistant, accounts clerk, or similar junior finance role.
Solid basic bookkeeping skills and an understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to multitask effectively.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with team members and clients.
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to achieving a high level of accuracy in all tasks.
Sound customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
