A Role of Strategic Leadership

The General Manager position transcends traditional executive management. You will take responsibility for overall leadership, coordination, guidance, and supervision of all Agency operations while reporting to the Board. Your strategic direction will directly influence the quality and reach of news services that feed other media outlets across Ghana . Consequently, we seek an individual who combines deep media industry knowledge with exceptional leadership capabilities and a clear vision for modernising wire service operations.

Core Responsibilities

Your daily activities will encompass a comprehensive range of strategic and operational functions:

Administer and manage the Agency on a day-to-day basis with professional excellence
Implement policies effectively while supporting the formulation of strategic plans
Ensure preparation and submission of relevant reports to the Board
Develop and maintain a management culture that fosters cooperation, commitment, efficiency, accountability, productivity, and healthy labour relations
Implement effective systems and methods for monitoring and controlling Agency activities
Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the Board

Required Qualifications and Experience

Educational Foundation: Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in the Sciences or Arts, preferably Mass Communications, Journalism, Business or Public Administration, Engineering, Economics, or Management. Alternatively, a postgraduate professional certificate or qualification from relevant specialist industry training at senior management level will be considered.
Professional Experience: The successful candidate must demonstrate extensive experience in a senior management position within a reputable institution. The candidate must be able to serve a term of four years before reaching the compulsory retirement age of 60 years.

Strong managerial and organisational capabilities
Demonstrable knowledge of wire service and news agency operations
Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
Proven knowledge of media and communication, particularly wire service operations
Excellent administrative and supervisory abilities
Strong team player orientation
Outstanding communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in computer and software applications
Familiarity with the Financial Administration Act, Procurement Act, Internal Audit Agency Act, National Media Commission Act, and the 1992 Constitution
Excellent marketing orientation and strong knowledge of media networks
