The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has officially opened its nationwide recruitment drive, inviting qualified Ghanaians to join the service. This recruitment aims to strengthen the agency’s workforce and enhance emergency response capacity across the country. Interested applicants can apply for various roles in fire safety, rescue operations, and administrative support.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

Eligible applicant must:

  • Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  • Be with no criminal record and of good character.
  • Not have been dismissed from any public service or any other employment.
  • Be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years of age for the Officer Corps by 1st November 2025
  • Be not less than 18 years and not more than 32 years of age for non-Tradesmen by 1st November 2025
  • Be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years of age for Tradesmen /artisans by 1st November 2025
  • Be physically and medically fit by Fire Service standards.
  • Be of a minimum height of 1.73 metres/173 cm/ (5ft 8 inches) for males and 1.63 metres / 163 cm/ (5ft 4 inches) for females.
  • Have five (5) credits (not less than Grade 6) at BECE
  • Be not Bonded by any organization
  • Have five (5) passes (Up to Grade C6, including English and Mathematics) at WASSCE/SSSCE or the requisite credit/passes in respective trade qualifications from GES Intermediate or Advanced Level

ORDAINED MINISTER OR CHAPLAIN

Have at least a first degree in Theology of good standing in a Christian denomination approved by any of the following bodies: the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana or other recognized Christian Bodies.

IMAM

iii. Have at least a first degree in Islamic Studies with an excellent Knowledge of Arabic

  • Be in good standing with a Muslim denomination approved by any of the following bodies: the office of the National Regional Chief Imam, the office of the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, or other similar nationally recognized Muslim bodies.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT (NON-TRADESMEN) FOR 2025 RECRUITS

GENERAL DUTIES

Firefighters and Rescue Crew; In addition to satisfying requirements 1(a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,l.j, and k) in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

  • Five (5) passes SSCE/WASSCE, including English language and Mathematics
  • Four (4) credits in the Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Level Certificate, and a pass in English and Mathematics or ‘A’ Level or ‘O’ Level with credit in English.

ACCOUNTING OFFICERS

In addition to satisfying requirements 1(a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,l,j and k) in general eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

  • Six(6) Passes, including English and Mathematics at WASSCE with Accounting or Business options
  • RSA Stage III in Accounting
  • Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting Option)
  • HND Accounting.

MEDICAL AND ALLIED SCIENCES.

In addition to satisfying requirements 1(a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,l,j and k) in general eligibility, applicants must have any of the following with at least one (1) year working experience in a recognized health facility5

General Nurses

  • 3 Year Diploma in Nursing (Registered General Nursing/Registered Mental Nursing/Registered Community Health Nursing/Emergency Nursing) and must have completed the mandatory rotation.
  • Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.

Midwives

  • Diploma in Midwifery (Registered Midwifery) and must have completed the mandatory rotation.

Pharmacy Technicians.

  • HND/3-year Diploma in Dispensing Technology must have completed the mandatory national service.
  • Technical Officers (Dental Surgery Assistant/Technology).
  • 3-year Diploma in Dental Surgery option, and must have completed the mandatory national service.
  • 3 year Diploma in Dental Technology option and must have completed the mandatory national service.

Technical Officers (Radiology).

  • 3-year Diploma in Radiology Technology and must have completed the mandatory national service.

Technical Officers (Nutrition).

  • 3 year Diploma in Public Health (Nutrition) or Food Health & Nutrition and must have completed the mandatory national service

Technical Officers (Health Promotion).

  • 3 year Diploma in Public Health (Health Promotion) and must have completed the mandatory national service.

Technical Officers (Disease Control & Surveillance).

  • 3-year Diploma in Public Health (Disease Control) plus one (1) year mandatory national service.

Technical Officers (Medical Laboratory).

  • 3-year Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology plus one (1) year mandatory national service.

Technical Officers (Physiotherapy).

  • 3-year Diploma in Physiotherapy plus one (1) year mandatory national service.

Technical Officers (Health Information Systems).

  • 3-year Diploma in Public Health (Informatics/Information systems) plus one (1) year mandatory national service.

Technical Officers (Bio-statistics).

  • 3-year Diploma in Health Statistics plus one (1) year mandatory national service.

Psychiatry/Mental Nurses.

i. 3-year Diploma in Mental Nursing (Registered Mental Nursing) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.

Technical Officers (Optical)

  • 3-year Diploma in Optical Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Nurse Assistants Clinical.

i. Certificate in Nursing (Registered Nurse Assistant Clinical) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.

Medical Laboratory Assistants,

  • Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning plus one (1) year mandatory national service.

Biomedical Technician:

  • CTVET/GES Diploma in Biomedical and Electro Medical Engineering,
  • CTVET/GES Radio, TV and Electronics Part I,
  • CTVET/NABTEX Certificate II in Electronics Engineering.

CATERING/HOSPITALITY

In addition to satisfying requirements 1(a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,l,j and k) in general eligibility, applicants must have any of the following;

  • HND/3 Year Diploma in Hotel Tourism and Hospitality Management plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
  • GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Hospitality and Catering Management.

  • CTVET/NABTEX Certificate II in Electronics Engineering.

RECORDS AND ARCHIVES

BANDSMEN

Regimental Band

  • Should be able to play more than one (1) instrument, including Clarinets, Bassoons, Flutes, Alto and Tenor Sax.
  • Should be able to read the staff notations.
  • Should be good at every aspect of Percussion.

Dance Band

  • Diploma/Certificate in Music
  • Should be conversant with all types of songs as a Keyboardist.
  • Must be able to sing all types of songs and back the songs as well as a Vocalist.
  • Should be conversant with all types of songs as a Bass and Lead Guitarist.

The Ministry, therefore, invites suitably qualified, disciplined, and patriotic Ghanaian citizens who desire to serve the nation with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to submit their applications within the stated period.
