Job Title: Account Manager
Job Summary
Our client, a major player in the Telecom and Technology sector, is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Account Manager to join their regional team. This is not a passive account maintenance role. You will be responsible for driving new business and growing allotted accounts by creating strategic account plans and building strong client relationships. You will focus specifically on public sector accounts, including government ministries, agencies, and diplomatic missions.
Consequently, you need more than general sales experience. You need a deep understanding of how public sector procurement works. Also, you need experience navigating tender and bid processes. Responsibilities
As Account Manager, you will own the relationship with key public sector clients. You will identify and close new business opportunities within your allotted accounts. You will use a consultative, solution-oriented approach to manage decision-making processes and close deals. Your success will directly impact the company’s regional growth and market leadership.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and Close Opportunities: You will actively prospect for new business within public sector accounts. You will move opportunities from pipeline to close with confidence and skill.
- Build a Qualified Pipeline: You will maintain a robust pipeline of prospects using a consultative selling approach. You will manage the decision-making process effectively.
- Navigate Tender Processes: You will leverage your experience with public sector bids to navigate complex tender requirements. You will position our solutions for success.
Account Strategy & Planning
- Develop Account Development Plans: You will create strategic ADPs for each allocated account. You will outline contact strategies, growth targets, and key milestones.
- Engage with C-Level Executives: You will build relationships with senior decision-makers at industry shows, conferences, and other platforms. You will expand your professional network.
- Provide Data for Sales Planning: You will supply account insights and data to the Regional Head to inform sales plans and monitor implementation.
Relationship Management
- Build Strong Client Relationships: You will cultivate trust and credibility with public sector clients. You will become their go-to advisor for technology solutions.
- Ensure Integrated Channel Management: You will leverage systems like CRM to manage client interactions and track progress effectively.
- Collaborate with Internal Teams: You will work with technical and support teams to ensure client needs are met and expectations exceeded.
Performance Monitoring & Compliance
- Track Progress Against Targets: You will use relevant metrics and measures to monitor your performance. You will take action to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Identify Training Needs: You will recognize areas for your own development and communicate needs to leadership.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: You will operate in full compliance with telecommunications license provisions, sector regulations, and competition laws. You will protect the company’s license to operate.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for a sales professional with specific experience in the public sector. You understand that selling to government is different from selling to corporate clients. You have the patience for longer sales cycles and the expertise to navigate procurement processes.
To excel in this role, you will need:
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in sales, account management, or business development.
- Previous experience in a Telecom, ISP, or Technology environment is strongly preferred. You understand the products and services.
- A solid understanding of telecom and technology products and services for enterprise clients.
- Experience working with public sector, NGO, or diplomatic accounts in the region is a significant added advantage.
- Proven experience navigating tender and bid processes. You know how to play the long game.
