METSS LBG is recruiting a skilled Data Scientist to support the Mastercard Foundation-funded Access to Finance Monitoring and Learning Program in Ghana. About the Program

The Access to Finance Shared Service Support Program strengthens Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning systems across financial inclusion initiatives in Ghana. By enhancing data-driven decision-making, the program directly supports poverty alleviation, sustainable job creation, and economic resilience—particularly for underserved youth and women.

Role Overview

As a Data Scientist on retainer, you will provide flexible, high-impact analytical support to our MEL and research teams. You will manage diverse datasets, develop predictive models, and create dynamic visualizations that inform program strategy and demonstrate impact. This position is ideal for a technical expert seeking meaningful, project-based work in international development.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management & Analysis

Clean, process, and manage large-scale datasets from surveys, administrative sources, and secondary data
Conduct advanced statistical and econometric analyses to uncover program insights
Develop and validate predictive models and segmentation frameworks
Ensure data quality and methodological rigor across all analytical tasks

Visualization & Reporting

Design and automate interactive dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
Transform complex analytical findings into accessible visuals for diverse stakeholders
Support MEL teams in performance tracking and results reporting
Prepare data summaries and analytical inputs for donor and program reports

Collaboration & Support

Work closely with MEL specialists to align analytics with program indicators
Provide on-demand analytical support for ongoing research assignments
Contribute to methodological innovation and analytical capacity building

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements:

Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or related quantitative field
Demonstrated experience in quantitative research and data analytics
Strong proficiency in Python, R, or STATA for statistical modeling
Expertise in SQL for data management and querying
Experience with data visualization platforms (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in international development or donor-funded programs
Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks and methodologies
Experience with financial inclusion, youth employment, or gender-focused programming
Ability to work effectively in distributed team environments
