POSITION: M&E and Communication Officer
Are you passionate about data-driven development and strategic communication? Coginta is currently recruiting a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Communication Officer to support an impactful governance and peacebuilding initiative in northern Ghana. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine analytical expertise with storytelling while contributing to community stability and institutional strengthening.
Based in Bole, the position involves periodic field missions and close collaboration with project teams, local stakeholders, and international partners.
About the Organization
Coginta operates as a non-political organization dedicated to strengthening judicial and security governance while promoting social cohesion and conflict prevention. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the organization implements programs across several African countries to support rule of law, peacebuilding, and sustainable development.
With support from the European Union, Coginta has launched the Gold for Good Project, which focuses on improving conflict-sensitive governance and environmental accountability in artisanal mining communities.
Role Overview
The M&E and Communication Officer will lead two integrated workstreams: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), and Communication & Visibility. In addition, the role will ensure that project results remain measurable, transparent, and effectively shared with stakeholders.
You will work directly under the Operations Manager while supporting adaptive learning, data quality, and strategic communication across project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
You will strengthen project performance through structured monitoring systems and data-driven decision-making. Responsibilities include:
- Design and implement MEAL frameworks aligned with donor and organizational standards
- Define logical frameworks, indicators, and theory of change models
- Collect and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to measure results
- Support enumerators and technical teams during routine data collection
- Conduct data verification and quality assurance exercises
- Lead baseline, midline, and endline evaluation processes
- Train project staff and partners on MEAL tools and participatory approaches
- Organize reflection sessions to capture lessons learned and improve strategy
- Integrate gender-sensitive, conflict-sensitive, and environmental indicators into monitoring tools
- Develop data storage and knowledge-sharing systems
Additionally, you will introduce innovative monitoring approaches such as outcome harvesting and participatory learning techniques to strengthen project impact.
Communication and Visibility
Beyond technical monitoring, you will translate project achievements into compelling communication outputs. Key tasks include:
- Develop and execute the project communication and visibility strategy
- Produce newsletters, press releases, social media content, and case studies
- Document activities using photos, videos, and success stories
- Coordinate media engagement and outreach campaigns
- Support workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder events with communication materials
- Ensure consistent branding across all reports and publications
- Maintain a database of communication outputs and visibility activities
Furthermore, you will connect data insights with storytelling to promote evidence-based advocacy.
Cross-Cutting Responsibilities
To maintain program quality and accountability, you will:
- Ensure synergy between MEAL findings and communication outputs
- Monitor potential reputational or security risks linked to project messaging
- Promote transparency, participation, and ethical data practices
- Support additional tasks necessary for effective project implementation
Qualifications and Experience
Coginta seeks candidates with strong analytical and communication backgrounds. Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, Communications, or related field
- Additional training in M&E, MEAL, or communication is highly desirable
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in M&E/MEAL or communication roles
- Experience working on donor-funded or peacebuilding projects
- Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Northern Ghana local languages is an advantage
