List of Scholarships Available: 

The Croatian Government Scholarships are categorized into two groups for applications:

1: Scholarships Founded on Bilateral Agreements 

These scholarships are offered to citizens from nations that have bilateral agreements with Croatia. The types of scholarships available include:

  • A1: One term of studying the Croatian language (4-5 months).
  • A2: Semester/partial programs for undergraduate or graduate students (4-10 months).
  • B: Complete undergraduate (BA) or graduate (MA) programs (36 or 24 months).
  • C1: Complete PhD program (36 months).
  • C2: Incomplete PhD studies or research (1-10 months).
  • D: Postdoctoral research or studies (1-10 months).
  • E: Brief postdoctoral research stays (3-29 days).
  • F: Croatian language and literature summer workshop (2 weeks).

2: Scholarships for Studying the Croatian Language 

These scholarships are available to students studying Croatian language and literature or Slavic studies, irrespective of bilateral agreements. The types listed below are available:

  • A1: Semester coursework for students of the Croatian language (4-5 months).
  • F: Two-week seminar on Croatian literature and language.

Croatian Government Scholarships 2025-2026 Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants need to be citizens of nations that have valid bilateral agreements with Croatia (for Application Pool 1).
  • At least 2 semesters must be completed at the home institution for the majority of scholarships.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required for MA programs, Master’s degree is needed for PhD programs, and a PhD degree is essential for postdoctoral research.

Language Competence: 

  • For Croatian language courses: At least B1 proficiency in Croatian.
  • For other programs: Competence in English or Croatian, based on the program.

Age Restriction: 

  • 30 years for applicants seeking a BA, MA, or PhD.
  • Also, there is no age restriction for applicants to the postdoctoral research program or language programs.

Required Documents:

  • Filled-out application form.
  • Duplicate of a valid passport or identification.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) utilizing the Europass format (recommended).
  • Letter of Intent (1-2 pages).
  • Verification of registration at the home institution.
  • Transcripts from the previous two semesters.
  • Letters of recommendation (1-2, based on the program).
  • Invitation letter from a Croatian host organization (for research and doctoral programs).
  • Lastly, evidence of language competence (English or Croatian).

Scholarship Benefits

  • Complete or partial funding for designated programs.
  • Monthly Allowance:
    • 300 EUR for both undergraduate and graduate students.
    • 320 EUR for doctoral candidates.
    • 480 EUR for researchers who have completed their doctoral studies.
  • Budget-friendly housing in student dormitories.
  • Availability of budget-friendly meals at student dining establishments.
  • Chances to engage in cultural and educational activities.
  • Assistance for healthcare coverage throughout the scholarship duration.
  • Although travel costs are not reimbursed, certain sending nations might offer travel subsidies.

  • Select the Type of Scholarship: Identify the scholarship type that matches your academic objectives.
  • Collect Essential Documents: Assemble all required paperwork as mentioned previously.
  • Send in Your Application: 
    • For Application Pool 1: Submit your application via the Agency’s online platform and make sure your national competent authority nominates you.
    • For Application Pool 2: Apply online, and include a recommendation letter from your professor of Croatian.
