Job Description

Chance for Children, a leading Ghanaian non-profit serving street children for 26 years, seeks an experienced consultant to develop a comprehensive Capacity Building Framework. This strategic engagement will strengthen the organization’s ability to expand its reach from 4,500 to 7,000 vulnerable children annually by 2030. If you possess deep expertise in organizational development and non-profit capacity building, we invite your proposal.

Consultancy Overview

The selected consultant will conduct a thorough organizational assessment and create an actionable framework to enhance capabilities across individual, organizational, and systemic levels. This critical initiative will support CFC’s national expansion while ensuring sustainable impact for Ghana’s most vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment & Analysis

Conduct a comprehensive organizational capacity needs assessment
Identify critical gaps and strengths across all operational levels
Analyze current systems, structures, and human resource capabilities
Provide actionable recommendations addressing identified weaknesses

Framework Development & Implementation

Design a practical Capacity Building Framework with a clear implementation roadmap
Establish monitoring mechanisms to track progress and evaluate results
Create a situational analysis documenting current organizational capacities
Develop strategies for sustainable capacity development and knowledge transfer

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and the Operations team
Present draft findings to management for feedback and refinement
Incorporate stakeholder input into the final framework design
Deliver comprehensive final report with implementation guidance

Required Expertise

Essential Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years in organizational capacity development and institutional strengthening
Proven experience in human resource strategy and change management
Strong background in strategic planning and participatory facilitation
Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills

Preferred Experience:

Background in non-profit or international development sectors
Understanding of child protection and social development contexts in Ghana
Experience with organizational assessment methodologies and tools
Track record of delivering similar capacity-building frameworks

Deliverables Timeline

The consultant will provide:

Inception Report with methodology and work plan
Comprehensive Capacity Assessment Report
Implementable Capacity Building Framework
Draft and Final Consultancy Reports
