Canada Government New Policy Benefit for Foreign Workers to Study without Authorization

The prestigious new temporary program to help foreign workers in Canada has been announced by Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This new policy allows temporary foreign employees in Canada with work permits to enroll in and complete programs lasting more than six months without the need for a study visa or permit.
Starting on June 27th, everybody who has a work permit or whose work permit extension is still in effect must comply with this new temporary measure. This policy will be in force for the following three years, until June 27, 2026.
The maximum length of a study program for people with work permits has been eliminated by IRCC. Before, those with work permits had to apply for a study visa or permission to enroll in a course that lasted more than six months.
Tens of thousands of temporary foreign workers bring their knowledge to Canada each year, strengthening the country’s economy and aiding in filling critical labor market gaps. Although they make a significant economic contribution to Canada, foreign workers occasionally face limitations on the educational possibilities they might pursue.

Work permit holders are free to enroll in full- or part-time studies for the duration of the policy’s existence. Or until its expiration, whichever comes first. Foreign worker can continue their studies past the period of their work permit by applying for a study visa.
