Services for mental health problems in New Mexico
Job Summary :
The Medical Assistant’s job is to help the Nursing and/or prescribing staff with tasks related to clients’ physical and mental health, medications, rehabilitation, and support services. The Medical Assistant also works with other staff members to manage shifts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Medical assistants take care of their clients by giving them services that are based on their needs and help them stay healthy and independent.
- Support for Medications and the Medication Room: Helps the nursing staff with tasks related to the operation and use of the medication room.
- Service Team Approach: Serves people with mental health and substance use problems as an active member of a treatment team.
- Outreach, Engagement, and Follow-Up: Assigns people to complete outreach, engagement, and follow-up.
- Cultural Competence and Diversity: Gives services that fit different groups’ cultures
- Documentation: Documentation that is done and meets the expectations
- Efficiency and Productivity: Always meeting the set standards for productivity
- Staff Development Activities: Takes part in staff development activities to improve his or her skills and career.
Qualifications
- GED or high school diploma
- Current certification for Medical Assistance or LPN.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience working with severely mentally ill people in an inpatient or outpatient psychiatric setting.
- Needed and strongly preferred: Knowledge of psychotic and mood disorders, the medicines used to treat them, and any possible side effects.
- HR Policy 12.6: “Vehicle Safety and Client Transportation” spells out the rules for driving privileges and makes sure the person has a valid driver’s license.
