Role Overview

As Sector Manager, you will lead field teams in direct cocoa procurement while ensuring operational excellence across the supply chain. You will manage seed fund distribution, quality control, and timely evacuation of cocoa beans to port facilities. This position demands both strategic leadership and hands-on field management within Ghana’s cocoa-growing regions.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Field Operations

Supervise and develop district field staff through coaching and performance management
Conduct regular team meetings to disseminate information and address challenges
Implement disciplinary measures when necessary to maintain operational standards
Mentor subordinates for career advancement and skill development
Oversee seed fund disbursement and ensure proper usage for cocoa purchases
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for all transactions
Validate district seed fund requests and monitor fund allocation
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedural guidelines
Guarantee cocoa purchases meet QCC quality standards through rigorous inspection
Supervise proper storage, grading, and sealing operations at buying centers
Coordinate the timely evacuation of cocoa beans to port facilities
Minimize cocoa losses through effective inventory management
Submit daily SMS reports and comprehensive weekly returns to the head office
Reconcile weekly purchases and evacuation data for accuracy
Prepare detailed end-of-season reports with performance analysis
Monitor key performance indicators and implement improvement strategies

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Marketing, Trade, or Business Management
Minimum 5 years in commercial roles within agricultural commodity sectors
Comprehensive knowledge of Ghana’s cocoa market dynamics
Fluency in English and the local languages of cocoa-growing regions
Proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Excel
Strong leadership and team management capabilities
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Financial management and profitability understanding
Conflict resolution and stakeholder engagement abilities
Knowledge of sustainability trends and regulatory requirements
Results-oriented with strong business acumen
Adaptable to extensive field travel and challenging environments
Committed to ethical sourcing and community development
Strategic thinker with practical implementation skills
Excellent communicator with cross-cultural sensitivity
