Australia State Visa Nominations in 2024: A Quick Recap | State Nomination Australia

In the past few months, Australia has seen significant changes to immigration, which have had an impact on regional prospects and the country’s broader skilled migration policy. We will offer a summary of the most significant developments in visa nominations from each Australian State and territory in this blog post to assist you in your preparation and decision-making.

We will also provide you with a review of the latest invitation rounds, including the Skilled Nominated Subclass 190. The most recent data highlights several recent modifications, including the Skilled Work Regional Provisional Subclass 491, the Business Innovation and Investment Subclass 188, and the Skilled Independent Subclass 189.

There are doubts about the continued existence of the Business Innovation and Investment Visa Subclass 188 because there have been no nominations for it. However, the 189 Visa stands out because it provides skilled workers with an easy path to permanent residence without requiring them to be nominated by a state or territory.

Western Australia’s General Skilled Migration Update

Due to an excess of nominations over its allotted number, Western Australia has temporarily ceased accepting new applications for General Skilled Migration for the 2023–2024 program year. Applications submitted before the closing date of February 2, 2024, subject to nomination availability, will be handled per the current procedures.

This action reflects the high demand for skilled migration to Western Australia as well as the state’s continued support for greater nomination allotments to solve labor shortages.

Victoria’s Invitation Round

On March 13, 2024, the most recent round of invites for Victoria’s Business and Skilled Migration Program was sent out. Candidates should ensure that their Expression of Interest (EOI) and Registration of Interest (ROI) information is up-to-date to be considered for future rounds. Those who are not contacted after this round will still be taken into consideration.

After April 23, 2024, new Registrations of Interest (ROI) were not accepted for the Victoria invitation round 2023–2024 State-Nominated Skilled Visa program since there are only 3,300 slots available.

Australian Capital Territory Invitation Round

The Australian Capital Territory reaffirmed how nomination slots for skilled migrant visas are strategically distributed. The Canberra region highlighted in the most recent Canberra Matrix Invitation Round, held on April 5, 2024, its dedication to attracting talent in critical sectors and prioritizing Australian Capital Territory people.

The Australian Capital Territory government guarantees a transparent and equitable selection process because nomination spaces are an essential part of the skilled migration process. The number of invites sent out in each employment category depends on several factors, including the date and time of the Matrix submission and the monthly allotment demand in specific positions.

Latest Migration: Tasmania Updates

Due to the high demand for subclass 190 nominations surpassing the number of seats available, Migration Tasmania is currently only processing Registrations of Interest (ROI) assigned a gold pass. This restriction is exclusive to Subclass 190 and will remain in effect for the 2023–2024 program year.

After the 2024 Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Candidacy program begins, the state will reopen Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for category 190 candidates who have submitted their applications for the Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional Visa. Nominations are now open to everyone; to be considered, just fill out and submit an ROI for Subclass 491 using the application Gateway.

New South Wales Regional Priority

Candidates who significantly contribute to their local communities are given preference under the New South Wales Skilled Work Regional Subclass 491 program. This is especially true for candidates who have worked for a regional enterprise in the state for at least a year.

This initiative highlights New South Wales’ commitment to supporting individuals who are actively enhancing regional economies and sets a baseline for focused skilled migration in line with regional development objectives.
