About an Oncology Nurse

In the course of their career, oncology nurses provide skilled medical care, emotional support, and education to cancer patients and their families at all stages of their journey with the disease, from diagnosis and active treatment to recovery or end-of-life care.

Duties of Australian Oncology Nurse Opportunities

You will mainly be giving chemotherapy, targeted medicines, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments (for example, through peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), Hickman lines, and port-a-caths).
Second, you will be in charge of central venous access devices, which includes giving care during injection, changing dressings, and fixing problems that come up.
Third, you will keep an eye on and handle side effects of the treatment and cancer situations, such as tumor lysis syndrome, febrile neutropenia, spinal cord compression, superior vena cava obstruction, and so on.
In addition, you will be supervised while doing procedures linked to cancer, such as bone marrow aspiration/trephine assistance, paracentesis, and intrathecal chemotherapy.
Furthermore, you will help with nursing tasks related to radiation treatment, such as educating patients, taking care of their skin, and managing side effects.

Requirements for Australian Oncology Nurse Opportunities in 2025

First, you need to have a valid AHPRA registration.
Secondly, you have completed your ANMAC assessment.

You must also have worked in oncology for at least five years.
