Our operations span 11 of Ghana’s 16 regions.
The Opportunity
ActionAid Ghana is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Programme Officer to join our team. This is a two-year renewable contract based in Tamale, Northern Region. The role sits on the SM2 level of our national salary structure. You will play a pivotal part in implementing our Country Strategy Paper (CSP), building strategic partnerships, and empowering rights-holder organizations to engage with authorities and influence positive change.
Role Overview
As a Programme Officer, you will drive the operationalization of our country strategy at the regional level. You will deepen the understanding of our CSP among partners and communities while building and sustaining strategic networks with key stakeholders. A central part of your role involves strengthening the capacity of local organizations to effectively engage with government on critical mission objectives. You will also ensure programme quality and compliance through monitoring and robust documentation of community-led change.
Key Responsibilities
- First, you will facilitate the deep understanding and application of the Country Strategy Paper (CSP) among partner organizations and community groups.
- You will build, nurture, and sustain strategic partnerships and networks with key stakeholders to influence local policies and practices.
- A core responsibility involves designing and implementing capacity-building initiatives for rights-holder organizations to strengthen their advocacy and engagement.
- Furthermore, you will monitor partner programmes to ensure compliance with ActionAid’s quality programming standards and financial management procedures.
- You will conduct regular field visits to rights holders and their communities to document stories of change and assess programme impact.
- Additionally, you will prepare and submit detailed activity and progress reports that demonstrate contributions to CSP objectives.
- You will also represent ActionAid Ghana in relevant regional forums and coordination meetings.
Required Skills & Experience
- A first degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of three years of relevant working experience in programme implementation, partnership management, or community development within the NGO sector.
- Strong understanding of participatory development approaches, rights-based programming, and advocacy.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in monitoring, evaluation, and report writing.
- The ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse communities.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the Northern Region.
