Job Title: Integrated Science Facilitator
Position Overview
The African Centre for Technical Training (ACTT) invites applications for the position of Integrated Science Facilitator. This role is central to our national certificate programs, where foundational science instruction directly enhances learner comprehension of technical modules. We seek an innovative educator who can deliver interactive and practical lessons. Core Responsibilities and Duties
As a Facilitator, you will play a multifaceted role in curriculum delivery and student development. Your primary responsibilities will include the following:
- Lesson Delivery and Design: You will plan and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons in Integrated Science. Furthermore, you must develop comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials that bridge theoretical concepts with practical application.
- Pedagogy and Assessment: Employing effective teaching methods is essential to promote active learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving among students. Additionally, you will assess learner performance regularly, providing constructive feedback and targeted academic support.
- Record Keeping and Collaboration: Maintaining accurate records of attendance, assessments, and individual student progress is a key duty. You will also collaborate closely with fellow Facilitators and the Training & Quality Assurance Lead to support cross-curricular learning integration.
- Professional Development and Environment: Participating actively in team meetings, training workshops, and continuous professional development activities is expected. Moreover, you will contribute proactively to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Compliance and Additional Duties: Ensuring all teaching activities meet the official standards and requirements of CTVET is mandatory. You will also perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Training and Quality Assurance Lead.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Ideal candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and attributes:
- A minimum of a Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Integrated Science, or a closely related subject area.
- Proven experience in teaching or facilitation, particularly within a vocational, technical, or competency-based training environment.
- Excellent communication, classroom facilitation, and student management skills.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and educational resources to enhance instruction.
- A genuine readiness to thrive in a dynamic start-up environment and work within a participatory community framework.
- A strong personal connection to the ACTT mission, coupled with demonstrable integrity and high ethical standards.
- Furthermore, adaptability, patience, and a passion for student success are crucial for this role.
Preferred Additional Attributes
While not mandatory, the following attributes will strengthen an application:
- Current registration and accreditation as a Facilitator by CTVET or another external regulatory body.
- A hands-on, proactive mindset ready to contribute to building and refining programs at ACTT.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- A decision-making approach guided by student performance data and outcomes.
