AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited operates the redeveloped, modern, and highly mechanized Obuasi Gold Mine. As a global leader with a culture that values diversity, collaboration, and professional growth, we are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Security Manager. This permanent, senior leadership role is based in Obuasi and reports to Stratum III L within the Security Department.

Role Purpose and Strategic Impact

The Security Manager is accountable for implementing and continuously improving security systems, policies, and procedures to protect life, secure company assets, and ensure a safe working environment. You will achieve this primarily by providing strategic leadership to Security Operations and Investigations teams, aligning all activities with global standards and operational objectives.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Your leadership will encompass risk management, environmental stewardship, budget control, and strategic security oversight.

Conduct thorough risk assessments for all security tasks, ensuring controls are in place before and during execution.
Ensure all security incidents are reported, investigated, and that corrective actions are completed promptly.
Implement and enforce all environmental legal requirements within the department, identifying aspects and providing mitigation measures.
Manage the approved labour plan and budget, arranging efficient deployment, supervision, and welfare of all security personnel.
Conduct regular inspections of patrols and installations, promptly addressing any security lapses.
Develop and implement training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and create a succession plan for key roles within the department.
Lead all security resources, including personnel and contracted services, to utilize technology and standards effectively within budget.
Facilitate full compliance with the company’s Security Framework and Policies at the mine site.
Identify and implement continuous improvements to security and surveillance systems to manage threats to personnel, property, and information.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operations adhere to regulatory, social, and human rights standards.
Maintain a sustainable security risk management process to foster a risk aware culture and guide decision-making.
Manage departmental budgets, conduct cost analysis, and identify opportunities for cost efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, or a closely related field.

Have a minimum of ten years of professional experience, with at least five years at a management level within mining operations, security administration, investigations, or risk management.
Demonstrate substantial experience in planning and executing complex security operations and developing crime management plans.
Exhibit proven project management skills, excellent verbal and written communication in English, and a sound understanding of the mining value chain.
Possess strong commercial acumen, conflict management abilities, and mentoring skills.
