EU-Canada Young Journalist Fellowship 2025

The Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ) and the Delegation of the European Union to Canada have collaboratively announced the launch of the 2025 edition of the EU-Canada Young Journalist Fellowship. This prestigious initiative is designed to recognize and support the next wave of talented young journalists in Canada, providing them with invaluable resources and opportunities to develop their skills.

The fellowship aims to foster journalistic excellence and innovation, encouraging participants to explore critical issues through the lens of their unique perspectives. By connecting young Canadian journalists with experienced professionals and offering mentorship, training, and networking opportunities, this fellowship aspires to empower them to make significant contributions to the field of journalism and engage meaningfully with the broader global narrative.

About the Fellowship

Since its start in 2001, the EU-Canada Young Journalist Fellowship has offered three outstanding young journalists from Canada a fully funded, week-long educational tour in Brussels, Belgium. The champions will have the opportunity to interact with EU institutions, the Canadian Mission to the EU, and prominent media organizations. Furthermore, they will participate in a daily press briefing by the European Commission to acquire direct experience in European journalism.

In addition to the study tour, winners will gain a one-year membership or renewal with the CAJ and will be invited to an esteemed awards ceremony on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, sponsored jointly by CAJ and the Office of the Speaker of the House of Commons.

The project seeks to enhance the comprehension of the European Union (EU) among young Canadian journalists, bolster connections between Canada and Europe, and promote cross-border journalistic cooperation.
