Job Title: Relationship Officer

The Opportunity

We are seeking competent, dynamic, and self-motivated individuals to join our team as Relationship Officers. This role is fundamental to our mission, focusing on mobilizing and growing retail deposits. You will be a key player in deepening financial inclusion, strengthening branch liquidity, and building lasting customer relationships through proactive engagement and excellent service.

Purpose of the Role

The Relationship Officer is responsible for managing and expanding the branch’s deposit portfolio. You will drive deposit acquisition, ensure portfolio health, and enhance customer value through strategic relationship management and targeted market activities.

Key Responsibilities

You will oversee a critical mix of sales, service, and compliance duties. Your core responsibilities will include:

Deposit Portfolio Growth & Sales:

  • First, you will manage the branch’s deposit portfolio, including demand and fixed-term accounts, to ensure consistent growth and stability.
  • You will drive monthly and quarterly deposit targets through proactive field engagements, community activations, and corporate visits.
  • A primary duty involves conducting market and competitor research to inform effective product marketing and strategy.
  • Furthermore, you will develop and implement customer retention strategies to reduce account attrition.
  • You will also cross-sell other BGSL products to deepen customer relationships and increase wallet share.

Customer Relationship & Service Management:

  • You will build and sustain strong, trust-based relationships with both new and existing clients.
  • Additionally, you will respond promptly to customer inquiries, providing clear guidance on product features, benefits, and terms.
  • You will lead service recovery efforts to resolve complaints effectively and ensure high satisfaction at all touchpoints.
  • Regular customer follow-ups will be essential to maintain account activity and facilitate maturity renewals.

Compliance, Reporting & Safeguarding:

  • You will ensure all account openings and documentation strictly comply with KYC, AML, and internal policy standards.
  • You will maintain accurate portfolio records and submit detailed weekly performance reports to management.
  • A critical responsibility involves upholding the organization’s safeguarding culture by implementing relevant policies, supporting team training, and following proper reporting procedures for any incidents.

Required Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will be a results-driven professional with financial sector experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in sales, marketing, or relationship management within banking, microfinance, or financial services.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Ghana’s financial services landscape and customer savings behavior.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed deposit mobilization targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client engagement skills.
  • A self-motivated, analytical, and disciplined team player aligned with BRAC’s values.
