The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Development Lead to drive our expansion and client acquisition efforts in Ghana. This senior role is critical for shaping our market presence and requires a professional who excels in strategic planning, sales execution, and building lasting B2B relationships. You will be instrumental in aligning growth initiatives with our company’s vision, penetrating key industries, and establishing Aquantuo as the premier logistics partner for businesses in manufacturing, retail, and e-commerce.

Key Responsibilities

You will own the business development lifecycle, from market strategy to client retention. Your core duties will include:

  • First, you will collaborate with senior management to define and execute a business development strategy that aligns perfectly with Aquantuo’s overall growth objectives for Ghana.
  • You will conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, assess competition, and uncover high-potential opportunities for service expansion and client acquisition.
  • A primary focus will be on generating qualified B2B leads through proactive networking, targeted outreach, and building a robust sales pipeline.
  • Furthermore, you will manage the entire client journey, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and fostering strong relationships to secure repeat business and identify upselling opportunities.
  • You will also support the formation of strategic partnerships to enhance our service offerings and competitive edge in the local market.
  • Additionally, you will work cross-functionally with marketing and operations teams, providing vital market insights to tailor campaigns and optimize service delivery.
  • You will efficiently manage budgets and resources for business development activities while identifying and mitigating potential strategic risks.
  • Finally, you will provide leadership, training, and motivation to a sales team, driving a high-performance culture focused on exceeding targets.

Required Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate is a results-driven professional with a blend of commercial and industry insight:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field. A background in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
  • Minimum of three years of proven experience in sales, business development, or key account management.
  • Prior experience within the shipping, logistics, or freight industry is a significant plus.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and planning skills, with the ability to translate market research into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software, the Microsoft Office suite, and other sales enablement technologies.
  • Demonstrated skill in resource and budget management.
  • A collaborative mindset with proven ability to work effectively across different departments.
  • Knowledge of the Ghanaian or broader African logistics landscape is highly desirable.
