Australia Extends Immi App Access to 34 Countries, Streamlining Visa Biometrics Processing
Australia has announced that the Immi App is now accessible in 34 countries, offering a faster method for visa applicants to submit their biometrics from their smartphones. This improvement eliminates the need for in-person visits and aims to expand access to all countries by early 2026.
Important Update for Visa Applicants
If you’re applying for an Australian visa soon, pay attention. The Department of Home Affairs has broadened the reach of the Australian Immi App to 34 countries. Now, applicants can easily submit their facial biometrics and passport information via their mobile devices. This upgrade simplifies the biometric submission process, saving time and eliminating extra costs.
Simplifying the Visa Process
Originally launched in October of last year for a select group of countries, the Immi App included nations like Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, and New Zealand. The app was specifically designed for those who had previously provided biometrics, making it more convenient to verify their identity for new visa applications.
Now, the latest expansion allows travelers from 34 different countries to benefit from this technology. The Department of Home Affairs has also indicated plans for a full global rollout by early 2026, ensuring that all eligible countries in the biometric collection program will have access.
List of 34 Eligible Countries
Visa applicants from the following 34 countries can now use the Australian Immi App, including India:
- Fiji

How the App Functions
After downloading the Immi App, eligible users can verify their identity by scanning their passport and taking a facial photo with their smartphone. The app securely transmits this information to the Department of Home Affairs. Those eligible will receive an invitation letter or email allowing them to use the app, aiming to reduce waiting times and travel expenses while enhancing security and convenience.
Eligibility Criteria
Not everyone can simply download the app and begin. To gain access, applicants must:
- Be located in one of the eligible countries.
- Have previously provided biometrics at an Australian biometric center.
- Receive an invitation letter from the Department of Home Affairs.
Once invited, applicants can follow the app’s instructions to scan their face and submit their passport details securely.
Looking Ahead
With this expansion, more travelers can complete important visa tasks from the comfort of their own homes. The Department of Home Affairs plans to continue assessing and improving the Immi App to make it globally available by early 2026. This initiative signifies Australia’s commitment to modernizing its visa processes, ensuring smoother and more secure international travel for all.
