Volunteers have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, including hospitality, gardening, and assisting with events and programs that foster personal well-being and spiritual development.
What Makes Scargill Movement Stand Out?
- Tier 5 Visa Sponsorship: Scargill Movement offers sponsorship for the Tier 5 charity visa, enabling international volunteers to work legally in the UK.
- Community Experience: Become part of a close-knit community where you can cultivate long-lasting relationships and meaningful friendships.
- Family Inclusion: One aspect that sets this program apart is the option for volunteers to bring their families along, creating a special chance for shared experiences.

Locharthur
Locharthur, located in the serene Scottish countryside, is another fantastic organization that offers Tier 5 charity visa sponsorship. At Locharthur, our top priority is creating a nurturing atmosphere that fosters personal growth and development for both volunteers and the community.
Opportunities Available
Volunteers at Locharthur have the opportunity to get involved in a range of projects, including supporting daily operations and taking part in outreach programs that have a positive impact on the local community. Their emphasis on life-sharing results in volunteers frequently living and working alongside the community, cultivating a profound sense of connection and purpose.
We are looking for both short-term (6-12 months) and long-term (life-sharing) volunteers.
Joining the community as a volunteer can be a rewarding experience!
Each year, up to 20 volunteers from the UK and around the world join us to support our life in Loch Arthur. Many of these volunteers are taking a gap year following school, while others are searching for a change in lifestyle, practical experience for future study, or inspiration for new ways of living. Most of these volunteers believe it is worthwhile to spend a year living in the community, however shorter periods are also viable. Individuals, couples, and families who want to commit to this way of life for the long term have options as well.
Unfortunately, we do not have any further openings for school internships until Spring 2024.
What sets Locharthur apart?
- Extensive Support: Locharthur provides guidance and assistance to international volunteers throughout their entire journey.
- Cultural Immersion: Immerse yourself in the rich culture of Scotland as you make a positive impact on local community projects.
- A Life-Sharing Experience: This exceptional feature enables volunteers to fully immerse themselves in the community, fostering personal and professional development.
If you’re interested in volunteering at Locharthur, you can find more information on their volunteering page. If you’re curious about the life-sharing aspect, you can find more information about this unique opportunity on their Life Sharing page.
In conclusion
Volunteering in the UK offers a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable international experience and make a positive impact on society. Organizations such as Scargill Movement and Locharthur are now providing Tier 5 charity visa sponsorship, making it easier than ever to live and work in the UK. If you’re interested in developing new skills, meeting new people, or experiencing a different culture, these organizations offer a warm and inviting platform for international volunteers.
