Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential

  • A level of science or similar experience
  • Working experience in ocular imaging or a similar area that is equal to a Level 4 diploma.
  • Detailed knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the eye, as well as a thorough awareness of ophthalmic disorders.
  • A thorough grasp of the visual pathway and its relationship with visual field abnormalities in various illnesses
  • Proficient in operating the Humphrey visual field analyzer.
  • The individual must be able to confidently and proficiently picture patients’ retinas, optic discs, and corneas with a variety of tools, including a fundus camera and retinal photography software. They should also be certified.
  • Clear and effective communication is critical for explaining testing to patients who may have hearing difficulties or other barriers to comprehension.
  • Duties need considerable concentration for extended periods, so a methodical approach is important.
  • The capacity to make accurate adjustments to imaging equipment or gear requires excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Achieve predetermined goals or targets while working under pressure.
  • Capacity to perform a variety of images in surroundings that are dimly lit or dark
  • It allows for the determination of whether an image is crisp and finely focused at a suitable degree of corrected vision.
