POSITION: Salaries & Compensation Officer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Salaries & Compensation Officer to join our dynamic Human Resources team. This role is central to ensuring the accurate and timely management of our compensation systems and employee benefits.

Role Overview

As a Salaries & Compensation Officer, you will work closely with the Salaries, Compensation & Benefits Manager to support all aspects of the employee rewards framework. Your responsibilities will span payroll processing, benefits administration, statutory compliance, and data management. This position is ideal for a partly qualified accountant with a keen eye for detail and a passion for precision in a corporate setting.

Key Responsibilities

Your expertise will be crucial across several core operational areas:

Payroll and Benefits Administration: You will assist in processing all compensation-related transactions and deductions accurately and on schedule. Furthermore, you will help manage day-to-day employee benefits, including new enrollments, updates for life events, and liaising with external partners like the GRA and SSNIT.
Budget and Compensation Analysis: You will contribute to the preparation, monitoring, and adjustment of the annual compensation and benefits budget. Additionally, you will support job analysis and salary surveys to ensure our pay structure remains both externally competitive and internally equitable.
Data Management and Compliance: Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date staff database is a key duty. You will also ensure the timely payment of all statutory deductions, including PAYE and Social Security, and file annual tax returns promptly.
Audit and Reporting: You will actively participate in annual income tax audits and assist in preparing essential payroll reports. Reconciling payroll entries with accounting records and administering staff loans will also fall under your purview.
Employee Support: Acting as a primary contact for staff, you will respond to inquiries regarding compensation, benefits, and company policies, providing clear and helpful guidance.

Your Profile and Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

A good first degree in Accounting (minimum of Second Class).
Part qualification with a recognized accounting body such as ICAG or ACCA.
At least three years of relevant professional experience, preferably within a salaries administration environment.
Sound knowledge of recognized management and accounting software.
A strong understanding of personal income tax laws and regulations.
Strong computer literacy and proficiency with office software suites.
