Job Title: Business Development Specialist
Role Purpose
Join DHL Express as a Business Development Specialist and become a key driver of our growth strategy. This role focuses exclusively on acquiring new customers in the heavyweight express segment, typically handling shipments from 30 to 1000 kg. Your primary mission will be to win new business by identifying and developing opportunities with clients who need reliable, time-definite international transport solutions. We are looking for a dynamic and results-oriented sales professional who excels in competitive environments, understands complex logistics, and truly embodies our “Insanely Customer Centric” culture.
Main Tasks and Key Responsibilities
New Business Acquisition
- Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities for heavyweight shipments within your assigned country.
- Collaborate closely with the Core and Retail Sales Teams to leverage customer, industry, and market knowledge for winning deals.
- Build a robust sales pipeline through strategic territory planning, targeted prospecting, and professional networking.
- Conduct thorough customer needs analyses to design customized DHL Express solutions that balance network capability, transit time, cost, and reliability.
- Negotiate and close new business to ensure profitable and sustainable growth for DHL Express.
- Ensure a seamless customer onboarding process and manage the handover to Core Sales for long term account management.
- Work proactively with other DHL Group divisions to capitalize on commercial opportunities for the entire Group.
Market Development and Strategy
- Research and analyze market trends, customer sectors, and competitor activity to identify and prioritize target industries such as industrial, automotive, technology, manufacturing, and healthcare.
- Leverage the extensive DHL global network, comprehensive product portfolio, and advanced digital tools to position DHL Express as the premier provider for heavyweight express shipments.
- Provide valuable market feedback to our Product, Pricing, and Marketing teams to support ongoing service innovation and enhance our competitive edge.
Customer Relationship Management
- Utilize your existing professional network to unlock new commercial opportunities for DHL Express.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with key decision makers in potential customer organizations.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction during the critical onboarding phase by ensuring a smooth transition from acquisition to account management.
- Consistently uphold DHL’s renowned standards of service excellence and customer care.
Sales Performance and Reporting
- Achieve or exceed your individual targets for new business revenue and profit.
- Maintain meticulous records of all customer interactions, opportunities, and pipeline data in our CRM system.
- Deliver accurate and timely sales reports and forecasts to management.
Job Requirements
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Three to five years of proven success in B2B sales, ideally within the express logistics, air freight, or transport sectors.
- A demonstrated track record of winning and developing new accounts with complex logistics requirements.
- Experience selling heavyweight or time definite services is highly desirable.
Knowledge:
- A strong understanding of international express logistics, cross border trade, and customs processes.
- Familiarity with DHL Express products and value propositions is a distinct advantage.
